Voice chat covers four things that share little beyond the absence of video. Gaming voice — Discord, TeamSpeak, VRChat — is for people already playing together who need the sound to arrive immediately. Social audio, the Clubhouse and Stereo model, is for listening to a conversation as much as taking part in one. Push-to-talk apps such as Zello are for coordinating a group in the field, which is a different product with a different design. And HelloTalk and its neighbours exist so that two people practising each other's language can speak. The right choice depends on whether the room is for playing, listening, working or learning.
